Bon Voyage

This is a 1987 duo album by German violinist/mandolin player Hajo Hoffmann, who studied classical and jazz under Zbigniew Seifert and Stephane Grappelli, respectively, and ventured into the field of ethno-jazz with the Viomando project in the 1980s, and German pianist Valerie Kuhl. The album features a simple lineup of violin, mandolin, acoustic piano, and their voices, showcasing a richly colorful and lyrical acoustic New Age sound throughout. Tracks like A4/B4, where voice percussion and scat dance lightly, can be likened to a piano and violin version of Joan Bibiloni or Diethelm & Famulari. Incorporating elements of jazz, Latin, and bossa nova, this album is a delightful and consistently enjoyable showcase of acoustic New Age music. Lovely indeed.

A4: Dance with the Vamp!
B4: The New Beginning
